Czech Division Special Report
The year 2021 brought significant changes in the Czech division of IAP. After many years of successful work, the members of the current office have decided to end their positions. Subsequently, regular two-round elections were held, the results of which were published in the minutes of the Electoral Committee on June 1, 2021. The members of the new office were elected: Professor Jaroslava Dušková, MD, PhD, Professor Jiří Ehrmann, MD, PhD, Professor Jan Laco, MD, PhD, and Iva Staniczková-Zambo, MD, PhD.
At the subsequent first meeting held on June 25, 2021, Professor Laco was elected President and Professor Dušková was elected Secretary and Treasurer (combined position).
After handing over of the agenda from the members of the resigning office, the members of the newly elected office began to work immediately. As a result of their activities, two major nationwide congresses taking place in the autumn were held under the auspices of the Czech Division of IAP:
22nd Seminar of Young Pathologists with International Participation
22nd Seminar of Young Pathologists with International Participation was held face-to-face on October 22–23, 2021, in Litomyšl.
The major topic was gynecological pathology. Both invited speakers – Professor Charles Simon Herrington (Edinburgh, UK) and Professor Xavier Matias-Guiu (Lleida, Spain) gave excellent lectures on ovarian epithelial tumors and squamous lesions of the lower female genital tract (CSH) and on ovarian sex-cord stromal tumors and endometrial carcinoma (XMG).
The chief of the organizing team was Professor Jan Laco. The seminar was attended by more than 150 participants.
XLVI. Congress of Czech Pathologists with International Participation was held face-to-face on November 25–27, 2021, in Olomouc.
This year, it was organized jointly with XXIV. Congress of the Czech Society of Histotechnologists, XVI. Days of Molecular Pathology, and XVI. Diagnostic, Predictive and Experimental Oncology Days. Not surprisingly, the scientific program of the congress was very broad, from experimental molecular topics to pathology of covid-19, and included more than 70 oral presentations and 30 posters.
The chief of the organizing team was Professor Jiří Ehrmann. The Congress was attended by more than 250 participants.

Short introduction of members of the new Division office
Professor Jan Laco, MD, PhD, obtained his MD and PhD degrees in 2003 and in 2006, respectively, at the Charles University Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Králové,
Czech Republic. Since 2003 he has worked at The Fingerland Department of Pathology, Charles University Faculty of Medicine and University Hospital in Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic. In 2018 he was appointed Professor of Pathology.
The main areas of interest include head and neck pathology, gynecological pathology, and IgG4-related disease. He is a member of the Head and Neck Working Group of the European Society of Pathology. Professor Laco is author and/or coauthor of more than 170 peer-reviewed articles with more than 2500 citations, H-index is 26 (WoS, December 2021).
Professor Jan Laco
Professor Jaroslava Dušková, MD, PhD, F.I.A.C., graduated in 1976 from the Faculty of General Medicine of Charles University in Prague. Since then, she has been working at the Department of Pathology of this faculty. Her main interests are endocrine pathology, image analysis, and cytodiagnostics. H-index is 16 (WoS, December 2021).
Professor Jiří Ehrmann, MD, PhD, graduated in 1991 from the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, Palacky University, Olomouc. Former head of Department of Histology and Embryology and Institute of Molecular and Clinical Pathology of Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, Palacky University, Olomouc. Main interests are hepatopathology, neuropathology, digital pathology and image analysis. Number of citations is more than 1900 and H-index is 21 (WoS, December 2021).
Iva Staniczková Zambo
Iva Staniczková Zambo, MD, PhD, received her MD and PhD degree from the Masaryk University Faculty of Medicine in Brno in 2004 and 2012, respectively.
During 2004-2008 she worked as pathologist at University Hospital Brno. Since 2008, she has worked at the Department of Pathology of St. Anne´s University Hospital and Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk University.
Her main interest is musculoskeletal pathology. H-index is 7 (WoS, December 2021).
