In 1665 and 1666, London experienced two devastating  events.  15 to 20 percent of the city's population was killed by the plague, while the fire burned about a quarter of the region.  Robin Cooke describes the impact of the plague  from a clinical perspective, the role of plague doctors and hospitals, and the impact of the London Fire during that time.
